FAQs

Soft tissue therapy and sports massage can help with the management of symptoms of many health conditions, however, there are some conditions which may be contraindicated (i.e. not suitable for treatment) or that require written GP consent to proceed beforehand. To avoid disappointment, please raise any health conditions or surgeries you have or have had at time of booking to establish if treatment can go ahead or not. It is critical that you complete consultation forms accurately and honestly to ensure your safety and update the therapist of any changes ahead of future appointments.

After reaching out, you will receive an email confirming your appointment date & time along with a consultation form which needs to be completed prior to your appointment. This ensures that soft tissue therapy and sports massage is a safe treatment option for you. If it is not completed and shared before your appointment, it will need to be completed in clinic, which will reduce time left for treatment.

We will review your consultation form, objectives and symptoms in detail and then complete postural and joint assessments to understand what might be contributing to your symptoms. I will then walk you through my findings and proposed treatment plan. If you are happy to proceed, you will then receive a full treatment. As well as general massage other advanced techniques such as soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques and myofascial release may be used to achieve the desired results. Dry cupping is another advanced technique that might be suggested, if I see a clinical benefit to use it. If you’d specifically like dry cupping to be used during your appointment, please let me know in advance.

Yes, children can be treated. Any clients under the age of 18 must be accompanied to the appointment by their parent or guardian and remain in the treatment room for the duration of the treatment. Parents and guardians are required to provide consent for treatment to take place.

Yes! My clinic is open to everyone and lots of people can benefit from soft tissue therapy and sports massage. My clients range from those who are into sport and go to gym, to desk workers, hairdressers, people with desk jobs, and also people with medical conditions like arthritis, high blood pressure and crohns. Soft tissue therapy and sports massage is a great treatment option for relieving muscular aches and pains from the stresses of everyday life.

If you are feeling unwell, or showing cold, flu or coronavirus symptoms please contact me to postpone your appointment. Whilst you might think that massage will make you feel better, it places stress on the body whilst it is already under stress fighting off an illness. You also risk passing it onto the therapist and other clients.

Please complete a lateral flow test the day of the appointment. If it is negative and you feel well with no symptoms, please wear a face mask. I will be happy to treat you. If it is positive or you are feeling unwell or starting to show cold or flu symptoms please get in touch to rearrange with no penalties. If you turn up unwell, there is the risk I ask you to leave and request full payment for the session.

Towels will be used to keep you covered and comfortable but if you would prefer, we can work through clothing.

Please bring along a signed copy of your consultation form if you have not been able to supply it digitally. I’d also advise bringing a bottle of water with you, as it is important to stay hydrated post massage.

Some soreness post treatment lasting 24-72 hours is normal. This might feel like delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) after doing exercise. You may also experience some minor bruising.  You can use heat and ice therapy, alternating between the two to relieve symptoms.

You may feel tired, which is a normal side effect as we have encouraged the body out of fight or flight mode and into rest and digest mode and hopefully you may even experience an improvement in sleep quality!

It is normal for you to feel dehydrated post treatment and even display headaches and cold/flu type symptoms so please drink lots of water to encourage muscle recovery, blood circulation and inflammation reduction.

Keep moving and stretching but avoid strenuous and intense activity for 24 hours after to allow the body to rebalance and muscles to recover.
